A Personal Note from the Executive Director
I have the unique experience of being not only the Director of Camp Abe Lincoln, but I am also a parent of a camper. Because of this I look at camp through the eyes that only a parent can. My first priority is safety.
I was also a camper at YMCA Camp Abe Lincoln. I remember the first day at camp and the anxiety I felt when my parents left me with people I had just met. I also remember when my parents picked me up the last day of camp and not wanting to come home. I didn't want to leave all the new friends I had made.
Our goal at Camp Abe Lincoln is for kids to learn the four core values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. They do not learn them from books or lectures however. They learn these values while participating in nature.
It is my personal goal that your children and mine will grow socially and emotionally while at camp. Our children will get the opportunity to participate in canoes, archery, hiking, swimming and many others. During these activities they will learn the important core values of the Y.
